I found myself reflecting on the Thatcher legacy as I walked through the city the next morning, traffic free on account of her funeral. I stopped to admire the clarity of RSH’s new ‘cheese grater’ building under construction. You could fit about a third of the height of the iconic Lloyds building across the street into the lobby of the new building. Lloyds was completed a couple of years after Thatcher came to power, and seemed like a pretty big building back then. It looks pretty small now, but packs a lot of ideas in compared to the new breed of monumental neighbours.

The new technology aims to transform the practice of static one-way presentations to enable more conversational, participatory and social learning experiences, which have a particular current relevance for community consultation and local planning issues. Further information can be found on the website: http://www.stickyworld.com/

Brick buildings are fashionable and it’s informative to look at how people have been putting them together for centuries. For us up here, where brick isn’t really part of the mainstream vernacular, it’s a bit of an education.

The other drawing is a big food mixer that sits on the floor in one of our nice local coffee shops, The Bakehouse. Making Great Cakes.
