Peabody Exhibition 2012

Mark Turner Peabody Entry

Mark Turner has been one of 20 shortlisted at the Peabody Exhibition and are on display at the NLA from 10th May to 9th June.

In celebration of its 150th anniversary, Peabody launched an architectural competition to develop a proposal for an exemplar housing development of approximately 150 affordable and market homes on a four-acre site in Plaistow, Newham.

All sizes and types of practices, including collaborations, and students, were invited to enter, and competitors were asked to provide outline designs for the estate and to demonstrate how their designs aim to take the ‘Peabody estate typology’ forward into the future. The focus of the competition was the ’21st Century Peabody Vision’, in particular the relationship between buildings and the open spaces around them.

All designs were expected to be deliverable and the winner will be commissioned to develop the design to a full planning application.

Beautiful King’s Cross

Never thought I’d say that. This is a quick sketch of John Macaslan & Partners brilliant new hall. It’s a great improvement for anyone who passes through here regularly. The amazing structure is a little difficult to grasp on first visit (for me). There are lots of spaces to sit down if you want to buy something to drink, but not many if you don’t. The improvements to the existing building are great: clutter removed, light pours in from new roof.
